Fieldwork Studies

SEARG specialises in fieldwork-based research across the Southeast Asia region. Our experience truly encompasses this breadth of this fascinating region with our team having conducted field campaigns and delivered reports from Myanmar to New Guinea, from Java to Vietnam, and many other sites in between.

Our experts work closely with local universities and government agencies to provide timely access to key locations and have experience conducting highly detailed case studies at the individual formation scale to month’s-long expedition style regional investigations.

Current expertise within the focusses on quantitative sedimentology, basement studies, and structural geology, that are applied to our regional tectonic and palaeogeographic reconstructions.

This expertise can be used to directly address key thematic questions that you may wish to answer depending on your current activities, such as:

  • Onshore to offshore correlation using analogue studies, including source to sink.
  • Depositional environment analysis and wider palaeogeographic reconstruction.
  • Structural studies and basin evolution.
  • Basement histories and tectonic development.

Our fieldwork studies can be directed by members of the Joint Industry Project (JIP) and result in a detailed fieldwork report. Individual field-based investigations and reports can also be commissioned by those who have a specific question to be answered.

To discuss fieldwork options or to cost a project, please contact Max Webb (Max.Webb@hw.ac.uk).
